One time Chicago pastor and civic crusader T.L. Barrett's long-forgotten gospel-soul LP Like A Ship… (Without a Sail) is finally getting some much-needed direction - straight to the hearts of music-lovers worldwide. Long revered in the Windy City amongst the flock and fervent crate diggers, this end-to-end burner remains one of the holy grails of gospel soul. - Light in the Attic

Devastatingly great collection of studio-recorded publishing demos from one of the greatest American songwriters of the 20th century, never before released until now. Before launching a successful recording and acting career, Kris Kristofferson plied his trade in Nashville writing songs for more established artists. In this comp, familiar tunes are lined with grit and enveloped in what must be an extremely dense cloud of cigarette smoke and late night haze.

Awesome reissue of a heavily atmospheric and fairly weird obscure soul LP originally issued in '74 by Stax subsidiary We Produce. String-laden, yet still strangely sparse sounding, with long, slow-burning tracks that gain in heaviness and momentum, you'll hear shades of Terry Callier and Isaac Hayes, but there's a lovely soft folk edge to it considering the finger-picked guitar and mellow flute. Late night vibes go for days on, we're sure you'll love it.

We are proud to present 10 previously unreleased cuts (that’s right, previously unreleased) courtesy of the most bad ass funk diva of all time! Betty Davis' libidinous growl hits all the right notes, and her backing band lays down some of the most watertight grooves we’ve heard in a while, or, really, ever. “Is It Love or Desire” has traveled from the year 1976 to reach your ears, but Davis’ songs, mastered straight-from-the-tapes, sound fresh and alive.

Back when the Seattle Mariners were the Seattle Pilots, the rainy city was home to a sizzling nighttime funk scene that featured powerhouse funk groups like Black On White Affair, and cocktail lounge acts like the Overton Berry Trio. Back in '04, A Light in the Attic put out a kick-ass Wheedle’s Groove compilation that brought some of those artists out of obscurity and back on the stage -- Kearney Barton consists of new recordings by that reincarnated live group.
